Day 2 to 3.5 - Idaho Springs

Oh sweet mountain air.  I may not be able to feel my legs by the time I reach the top of a flight of stairs, or catch my breath because of the elevation- but there's just something about the mountains.

We spent about 48 hours at my Mom and and Bill's beautiful mountain home listening to the Clear Creek nearby, playing in their hot tub, drawing masterpieces with sidewalk chalk, walking in the charming downtown, and playing ball in the back yard.  We even visited some of the neighbors to give their bunnies, pig and goats some watermelon rinds.

These boys LOVE their Nanny and "Bo" and we are so grateful that we were able to get time with them!

Shortly after we arrived I started getting messages from concerned friends on facebook asking if Josh was ok and that they were praying for his safety.  It'd been offline all day Friday because of the drive and then being busy, so I hadn't heard news of the coup until those messages.  Getting to sleep that night was a bit rough, as I really had no idea what to think of not being able to get ahold of my husband and was reading reports of power outages.  I eventually heard from him and he filled me in that he was safe - just trying to navigate through the weird circumstances there.   Throughout the next day and a half a lot was learned about the coup and what it meant for Turkey and for our troops stationed there.  Things just kept getting stranger and stranger as the hours went by.

We enjoyed our time in the mountains with my Mom and Bill, but headed out on Sunday afternoon to give them time to prep for their Sunday night small group and for their upcoming trip to Minnesota for my cousin, Jessica's, wedding.  It kills me to not be able to get there to be there for that!  I sure love and miss that sweet girl!
