Snow shoeing!
Josh had never been snow shoeing but knew how much I'd love my previous experiences (a long time ago!) of it, so we rounded up some snow shoes from our beloved sister, Cara, and trekked out into the snow!

Blazing our own trail

Irontown
We walked through an old iron mining town toward the end of the trail - seeing old buildings like this I'm always so curious as to who the people were that lived there and what their lives were like. There's no doubt it was a gorgeous setting for a little town!

so.stinking.tired!

Josh, being a show off

He just had to show me up after I slumped over and dragged my ski poles for the last several hundred yards.

beautiful frozen waterfalls dotted the mountains sides

WOWIE!
We stopped off at a scenic pull off on the way back down the mountain and walked out an on overhang to see this wonder. SO.NEAT! He had to take the picture, because from where I was standing I couldn't see this much of the falls. I could NOT bring myself to step out onto the overhang and lean over the rails like he and two other guys that were there were doing. My whole body honestly just hurt and tingled. I just hate heights.

The China Clipper
Josh found this adorable little bed and breakfast named, "The China Clipper". It's run by a dutch couple that are just as cute as the bed and breakfast and what wonderful hosts they were! This is the main breakfast room looking into the kitchen. They came early to get coffee and tea started and made us breakfast themselves. It.was.delicious!

The choice for hot sauces. Hahahaha!

chilly, rainy mountain morning
It was a brisk, wet morning for a hike but we ventured out anyway. Neither of us were really dressed for it, but it was just too beautiful to resist.

Frozen ice climbing falls

See that waterfall in the rocks?!
This blew my mind! The waterfall is IN the rocks and doesn't really appear until it hits the bottom - you can see a peak of it through an open crevice. Apparently in full blown spring when it warms up this entire area fills with mist and gives a very fairytale feel to the atmosphere. I think we'll have to go back and see for ourselves.

at the bottom

breathtaking views!

this bridge!
Not sure how high up above the river this bridge sits, but my GOODNESS I had a hard time crossing it! I swore at breakfast I wouldn't, but Josh managed to coax me to the other side. I grabbed the railings and squatted down (like that was going to help) and ran like the wind to the other side. Josh here is being a show off about how carefree he is about heights.

Long.ways.down

We should hike THAT trail!
Yeah right!

booking it to the other side
these kinds of heights literally makes my entire body hurt

We talked it through- what is it about the mountains? We both have come to love the ocean to very much, but after being back in the mountains our hearts reminded us they hold a special place for both of us.
Both speak of the creativity of our Creator.
I love the ocean deeply, but I fear it greatly. The ocean, for me, speaks loudly of the Lord's intensity, that he is to be greatly feared and respected but intensely beautiful.
I love the mountains in a different way - they remind me of his majesty, his patience and his gentleness. They are serene, but mighty. They are peaceful and feel safe.
The fragrance after the rain subsided was delightful and evoked a great amount of emotion.

browsing clothes I'll never buy
I have no idea how folks that dress in these clothes afford these clothes. They are fun to browse through and try on, but ufda! They.are.pricey!

Headed back to the boys
On our way back home after a beautiful night away! OH how thankful I am for that time together.
